The importance of conserving water resources in Chinese community -by- Naseem Sheikh

Image
While living in China, one can clearly observe the fact that people here love nature very much. Every colour of nature, be it trees, flowers, rivers, or any form of biodiversity, is the way of thinking and behaviour of Chinese people. Both will focus on nature conservation. When it comes to water resources, after visiting various coastal areas and rivers of China, you must pay tribute to the Chinese government and the Chinese people for how they have preserved these beautiful natural colours. No encroachments will be seen, no garbage will be found, no contaminated water from any factory is discharged here and no human activity can be seen which is detrimental to these resources. One of the main reasons for this is the attitude of China’s top leadership, which convinces the people that we should not develop at the expense of nature but promote economic and social development that is in harmony with nature. China’s top leaders regularly review the biological environment of these water

Glaciers can be created; a traditional solution towards water mitigation by the local community of the Baltistan region -by Naseem Sheikh

For the majority of the public, it would be interesting and surprising to discover that glaciers are male and female. However, even more, astonishing and unbelievable is the fact that glaciers can be created. When it comes to glaciers, no one in the world knows more about glaciers than the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. The region of Gilgit-Baltistan is totally dependent on glaciers as the water of the glaciers is what gives rise to agriculture in Gilgit-Baltistan. At the same time, it has given rise to such exercises and endeavours which are extremely astonishing. This is not unusual, given the fact that the world’s largest and most glaciers outside the polar region are found in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Farming in Gilgit-Baltistan comes into being because of these glaciers. This dependence has not only given rise to an enchanting chain of beliefs about glaciers but has also given rise to some amazing exercises and endeavours. Another interesting fact is that there is no consensus on

Pakistani experts have built five artificial glaciers in Gilgit-Baltistan to combat climate change. by Naseem Sheikh

In recent years, Gilgit-Baltistan University, Karakoram International University Gilgit, and Wafa Foundation have teamed up with locals to create five artificial glaciers in Gilgit-Baltistan. Five artificial glaciers have been created in Gilgit-Baltistan to counter the effects of climate change and to ensure that locals have access to water in summer. In addition, the procedure is part of the Glacier Lake Out Burst Flood Risk Reduction (GLOF-II) project, launched by the Ministry of Climate Change. The University of Gilgit-Baltistan, Karakoram International University Gilgit of Pakistan, Wafa Foundation, and the local people of Chandu village, Skardu, Nagar’s Marko village, Hussainabad village, and Khawardo village cooperated in this excellent environmental cause. This new development will fight climate change and store water. With more than 7000 glaciers, Gilgit-Baltistan is called the land of glaciers. But where some glaciers are not formed naturally, an ancient technique of grafting

China's Comprehensive roadmap for tackling climate change

China attaches great importance to tackling climate change. As the world's largest developing country, China ha

The functional failure to find environmental solutions in 2021 is an opportunity to start 2022 more intelligently and practically -by-Naseem Sheikh

We are beginning a new year, and the silence in countries all over the world by concerned authorities is still deafening. Will there ever be a debate about what should be done to deal with climate change?    The COP26 case has failed to deliver on the arrangements we desperately need. The gathering has been a motorcade of inaction, fraudulent arrangements, and green washing by wealthy legislators and companies, all of which are the culmination of a victory. At every level, this COP was a tumultuous ruin. Organizing companies and even government states saw the COP as a green washing PR opportunity, while the nations hailed the dangerously fraudulent Net Zero Focus as a victory. The UK government, while governing COP 26, was so worse that it hindered the contribution of representatives from nearly eight regions that are generally impacted by environmental change. Instead, they focused on the north of 500 petroleum product lobbyists. The UK Government’s need was to veil its powerless targ

News summary — COP26, Day 11

The unexpected  US-China climate deal  created a lot of buzz worldwide today. Few concrete  details of the agreement have so far been released, but the climate discussions between the world's two biggest emitters nations are to be continued next week.   Another big discussion  is this one: Will COP26 be seen as a success or a failure? Many are worried that the latter will be the legacy of this climate conference. UN Secretary-General  António Guterres   said this morning :  ”One day before the end of CO26, we cannot settle for the lowest common climate action denominator. I appeal to all countries to increase ambition in mitigation, in adaptation and in finance.”   Maybe  climate youth activist Vanessa Nakate  from Uganda put it best in  her powerful speech  during the high-level event  Racing to a better world at COP26 on Thursday. ”We are drowning in promises. Commitments will not reduce CO2, promises will not stop the suffering of the people, pledges will not stop the planet f
