13:30–15:00 — From Kunming to Glasgow: Uniting Global Businesses to Tackle Nature Loss
Climate change and the continued loss of biodiversity represents a major risk to economic growth and sustainable livelihoods. Mainstreaming biodiversity into businesses, alongside delivering net zero for the climate is not only critical for the planet but also fundamental for business success as we build back better and create new opportunities. Biodiversity and climate are inextricably linked, and collective action by businesses, governments, and civil society is needed for nature and climate.

Our objective is to bring Kunming to Glasgow – through international business participation and engagement at the UN Biodiversity Conference we will bring the key elements to the COP26. We will highlight the practical solutions businesses are taking to unite against biodiversity loss – this is in recognition that while COP26 is focused primarily on stimulating international action on climate, this itself cannot be achieved without also addressing biodiversity loss and the need for nature-based solutions. To make the necessary transformative changes, we need to drive the discussions forward, from international policy and the post-2020 global biodiversity framework to practical implementation and solutions for businesses.

Speakers:
‍Kat Bruce, Director, Nature Metrics
‍Bianca Brasil, Business Engagement at UN Biodiversity
‍Michael Carroll, Board Member and Technical Director of the Grasslands Alliance.
